Hippie Market, Ibiza

Hippie Market
I was robbed yesterday,
however our travelling ´´Ibiza's-best-places-to-drink-and-eat-Adventure´´ is not finished yet. Since I am a calm and easy going person (sometimes I've managed to freak out people around me, how calm I was able to be in very stressful situations.... That's gone by now, because I work with italian customers..), after we did everything, what we could have done (blocking cards etc..), we said to ourselves, that there is nothing more to do, so let's discover our last part.

We went to a Hippie market. As I said before, I wasn't really big fun of this stuff, but I am following the rule that ´´if You will get out of your comfort zone, You may find something You may like, something unforgettable, yet not expected.´´  We had to take two buses to get there. On arrival I've seen two or three tents and I started to think, that if we were coming here only, because of these three tents, then.. (You know, what I had on my mind)

Fortunately, this was only a gate to a whole city of tents with all possible (and impossible – in case of forbbiden japanese erotic literature) shops. You could keep walking hours and hours – just like we did, and You would be able to find new and new shops and tents. Up to the point, when your brain just cannot get any more informations and colours. So You need to sit down and relax a bit. There was one restaurant at the very end of this city of tents, in a corner, quite hidden and not really full. You could sit down on a wooden floor or on a pillow or there were a couple of couches.  I was desperate of going in, but Jacek wanted to see the last undiscovered part of the market. There was some interesting music coming from that direction, which drew my attention, so at the end I went with him. It was a life music playing by band made of a female singer, two drummers, bass guitar  and an electric piano, creating something in a style of trip-hop music, perfectly fitting into the atmosphere.  We stayed for couple of songs and relaxed a bit and than we went back in the area of food.

When we almost finished to see all the shops,  we heard some shouting out of the crowd. We are human beings, so it obviously drew our attention and we decided to see, what is going on. Suddenly two guys came straight out of the crowd, shouting at the other people to be careful, because they were holding a huge boiling pan full of rice, shrimp, krevets and vegetables. I cannot even describe the smell of it. It was so tempting, that we decided to follow them. After all day of walking and not eating anything, it was too good to say no.
Fortunately, they were heading to our restaurant, where we wanted to stop before. I don't remember the price, but guys – if You will ever witness this situation do not hesistate. That food was a-m-a-z-i-n-g. I didn't like sea fruit before, but even if You are not a big fun of that, You would love it!

Suddenly, this restaurant was totally full. There wasn't any free space left – well I don't mind to sit on the floor, but there wasn't any table. But this is Ibiza, so we didn't loose our time and we joined a group of a five girls from the USA and Germany and Spain and I do not even remember the rest of the nationalities, or how did they met. They told us, that the drinks are quite good too. After the previous experience with Ibiza's mixology, I was a bit more careful so I went to the bar and  I had a good look on a bar and an actual bartender - actually a barmaid. (That wasn't so difficult, considering the fact that it was a very pretty girl).

They were offering beer, wine and Mojito only. Maybe it was the girl working there, or maybe it was just my bartending instict - I was very carefully watching every move, that she did to create her Mojito. After an almost artistic job, I have ordered one as well. Made of dark rum and even darker sugar cane with a fresh mint and very specific type of ice (0,5cm3 regular cubes) it was the best Mojito I've ever had, across all the bars and their styles and across all the recipies I have ever tried, on a place a was very sceptic about,  this was the best of the best. Explained in one word : ´´MASTERCLASS´´

It is a pitty that, that this restaurant doesn't even have a name. When I asked, they told me, that it's is a seasonal pub and every year they move it, or they change it completely. Honestly I hope for You, that You won't miss such an artistry and perfection in food and drinks at the same place…

And once again, I was very sad of leaving the place. When I looked out of the window of a bus, I've seen only three tents, but now I know how much life is there, behind these 'courtain.'

After arrival back to the Ibiza city, we packed ourselves - or simply took, what was left from our stuff in my case - and we were heading back to the airport. It's been only 2 and ½ days but it was enough and it was amazing.

Now, when I see the island underneath our aircraft, it looks so small.. And it  is very small indeed. But the life and especially the possibilities make it way bigger, than You may be able to discover, if You have as short time as we had. Maybe You will won't find, what are You looking for . But who cares! You are on Ibiza, so get yourself a beer, a girl and a ticket and let's party!
